Snagged: Awesome Dell 20″ Widescreen Display Deal
Edit @ 5.32pm: Damn, looks like Dell got smart and fixed the apparent pricing error. Still no email apologizing for the error etc though. Oh well. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
Not 20 minutes ago, Longadin and another colleague alerted me to an awesome deal for a 20″ Dell widescreen display. How awesome, you ask? How does S$120 sound? And that’s with a 3-year premium warranty too!
Most 20″ widescreen displays cost over S$200 these days, and the display quality isn’t all that great considering that these cheap monitors all use TN panels(more info here and here on why TN panels both rock and suck for the average consumer).
Of course, I personally use a 20″ widescreen Dell at home, and though i’ve been hankering for a 24″ upgrade, just over a hundred bucks for a 20″ display is simply too good a deal to be passing up. Besides, this is a good excuse to finally go dual 20″ at home, or at least have something better to use in the office.
Here’s how it goes.
First, head on to www.dell.com.sg, and hit up their Office segment, specifically Small and Medium Business, as per the screenshot below.

Next, go for Monitors.

Click on the link to 20-22″ Widescreens. Very close now.

Click on Customise for the Dell Ultrasharp 2009W model.

Ignore the online price of S$430, and add the item straight into your cart.

And voila! After S$310 cash off, you end up paying just S$119.98 for a sweet 20″ display; with free shipping, GST included and 3-year warranty!

All in all, we ordered three units. While i’ve already received the confirmation email from Dell acknowledging receipt of the order, it still remains to be seen whether this was intentional on their part, or merely a pricing error. Hopefully it’s the former, but if otherwise,oh well. I’ll update further if more news comes in.
